Joel and Benji Madden host several guest rappers, including Wiz Khalifa, Casey Veggies and Machine Gun Kelly, on their new Madden Brothers mixtape. This clip from the Good Charlotte brothers features Kelly, who inspired the Maddens with his over-the-top energy, says Benji. “The day we met MGK, Joel and I both walked away saying, ‘He reminds us of us at his age’… MGK makes any track exciting, and in front of the camera he commands everyone’s attention.” The song, the video and the whole mixtape were made “for no other reason” than to be creative and to have fun, says Madden: “Mission accomplished.”

The longtime friends and collaborators interview one another, sharing intimate details about how they came to know one another and how their recent collab came to be. You’ll feel like you are sitting at the table during a coffeehouse chat between these pals.
The cute and perky blond Jessie reveals that she was a “nervous starstruck wreck” upon meeting the brothers and working with them, since “Good Charlotte was my s—.” They had met at a studio session when Jessie was just 17 years old.
They kept in touch and when the Bros. Madden were working on an electric side project, they sent raw music to Jessie. She was so impressed and inspired by what she heard that while on tour, she felt she “needed to find a mic and a rig” so she could lay vocals over top of it right away. It turned out to be an admittedly sexy track.
The twins will release the house EP in early 2012, and it will feature this scorching Jessie and the Toy Boys collab.
Joel and Benji also spoke about releasing a mixtape, with Joel celebrating the fact that a mixtape relieves them of the pressure of getting clearances from publishers, managers and labels. Benji said he felt 16 again, like he was in his bedroom making music for his friends. He summed the mixtape up best: “There is no other reason to release it than to let our friends hear it.” Amen to that.

Joel Madden will battle A-list rivals Keith Urban, Seal and Delta Goodrem for the mentoring mantle of Nine’s new singer search series The Voice. The domesticated rocker from Good Charlotte is preparing to move his young family, including daughter Harlow and son Sparrow, to Sydney for the hit-to-happen production next year.
